Job Posting: Biology Lab Instructor

Great Basin College invites applications for a broadly trained Biology Lab Instructor to join our small but dynamic interdisciplinary Science Department at the Pahrump campus in rural Nevada. We are seeking an instructor with a solid foundation in Biology and Microbiology who is committed to teaching excellence and hands-on student learning. The main teaching responsibility will be for BIOL190 (Introduction to Cell and Molecular Biology) and BIOL251 (General Microbiology). This position plays a key instructional role in supporting science majors and pre-health students through engaging, lab-based coursework. Candidates from closely related scientific disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related field from an accredited institution
  • Experience teaching or assisting in college-level biology and microbiology labs
  • Demonstrated ability or strong potential to teach general biology laboratory sections effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or a related discipline
  • Prior college-level teaching experience, particularly in laboratory settings

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, deliver, and assess laboratory instruction for assigned courses.
  • Conduct hands-on lab sessions on a weekly basis
  • Prepare laboratory materials and set up experiments in advance
  • Maintain and manage laboratory equipment and inventory
  • Order supplies in a timely and organized manner
  • Ensure proper adherence to laboratory safety protocols
  • Coordinate with faculty and staff across campuses for course alignment and logistics

Salary and Benefits:

Salary is the standard part-time instructor amount based on amount of credits taught. This is a non-benefits eligible position.
